Most of our client calls are in English. My English is solid for writing but live calls are hard — people talk fast, use idioms, interrupt each other. I needed Korean translations appearing in real time, not a tab I'd have to switch to mid-conversation. DBird fixed this in under two minutes.
Zoom does offer live caption translation. But it's locked behind Zoom's enterprise plan — one of the most expensive tiers, typically purchased by large companies with dedicated IT departments. If you're on a Zoom Pro or Business plan (which most people are), you don't have access to caption translation at all.
The standard Zoom CC feature transcribes speech in English. If your meetings are in English and you need Korean, there's no built-in option. You're on your own.
DBird is a Chrome extension that reads Zoom's live captions (the CC feature) and adds a real-time Korean translation below each English line — per speaker, in a floating chatbox that stays visible during the call.
It works on app.zoom.us — the browser version of Zoom — on any paid or free Zoom account. No enterprise plan needed, no admin approval, no bot joining the meeting.
The real problem with fast English calls isn't just the words — it's knowing who said them and responding to the right person.
DBird labels every translated line with the speaker's name. When your client raises a concern and your account manager responds, you see two separate labeled blocks — not one merged caption stream. You know immediately who made the point, who agreed, who you need to address in your reply.
This is the part that changes how you actually participate. Instead of mentally reconstructing who said what from context clues, it's right there, in Korean, with the speaker's name attached. You can respond confidently, ask follow-up questions to the right person, and stay fully engaged instead of half-listening.
Every Zoom meeting is saved as a bilingual transcript — English original and Korean translation, labelled by speaker, stored only on your device. Unlike Zoom's cloud recording feature, DBird's transcript doesn't require host permission or cloud storage.
The chatbox includes a built-in notetaker panel — click the pencil icon during the meeting to open a notes area alongside the captions. Jot down action items, key decisions, or follow-up questions as they come up. Notes are saved with the transcript and timestamped.
After the call, generate an AI summary in Korean directly from the transcript page. You get a structured overview of what was discussed — useful for writing follow-up emails or briefing your manager without having to re-read everything.
DBird translates using Chrome's built-in on-device AI — all processing is local, nothing is sent to a translation server. You can translate in both directions: English → Korean or Korean → English. Switch language pairs anytime from the popup.
Real-time English ↔ Korean translation on Zoom. Free to start, no enterprise plan, no bot.
